Michael Jurgens from Damascus High School was rated a 3-star recruit by ESPN and handed a 3-star grade by 247 Sports. Following high school, Jurgens opted to join Wake Forest.In 2018 as a freshman Jurgens saw action in just one game and played a total of 8 snaps for the Demon Deacons. He allowed no QB hurries, no QB hits, and no sacks while playing sparingly.
As a sophomore in 2019 he played in 6 games and a total of 45 snaps. He conceded no QB hurries, no QB hits, and one sack while playing at center.
In 2020 as a junior Jurgens saw action in 8 games and totaled 579 snaps. He gave up 5 QB hurries, 2 QB hits, and one sack while playing at center.

Scouting Report: Strengths
- Jurgens will have a chance to develop as a right tackle or possibly inside at guard, where Jurgens could be an interesting prospect for a zone-blocking team. If nothing else, that versatility is enough to make him at least a quality reserve.
- Coordinated when moving to the second level as a run blocker, capable of landing blocks on the move.
- Has the natural power to move defenders at the point of attack. He also has the agility and speed to get out in front and land blocks at the second level. He also shows a good understanding of angles when climbing to the second level.
- In the run game, he comes off the snap quickly and is excellent with hand placement. He understands angles, and he displays impressive footwork in moving to the second level, usually getting in position to deliver blocks.
- Jurgens gets off the snap quickly, and he is consistently able to generate movement at the point of attack, typically finishing those blocks strong.
- Anchors against larger defenders in the middle; resets hands to maintain distance. Athletic enough to help on nose tackle then pick up twist or late blitzer. Mirrors quick interior rushers. Looks to help the center when uncovered.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
- Sometimes Jurgens simply gets too impatient to sit back in his set, reaching and lunging and generally playing with poor balance.
- His size and athleticism are both limited. Orlosky is not a great blocker in space, often struggling with quickness on the second level, and he lacks the range to be used as a puller.
- He’ll give effort, but doesn’t generate much power at the point of attack. He’s not the type of interior blocker who can re-establish the line of scrimmage, instead relying on angles and technique to win.
