Clark Barrington from University High School was rated a 2-star recruit by ESPN and handed a 3-star grade by 247 Sports. Following high school, Barrington opted to join BYU.In 2019 as a freshman Barrington saw action in 8 games and played a total of 351 snaps for the Cougars. He allowed just 2 QB hurries, 2 QB hits, and no sacks while playing the majority of his snaps at left guard, and the rest at right guard.
As a sophomore in 2020 he played in 10 games and a total of 565 snaps. He conceded 6 QB hurries, one QB hit, and no sacks while playing at left guard.
In 2021 as a junior Barrington saw action in 13 games and totaled 876 snaps. He gave up 10 QB hurries, no QB hits, and one sack while playing at left guard.
In 2022 as a senior Barrington saw action in 12 games and played a total of 801 snaps for the Cougars. He allowed 7 QB hurries, one QB hit, and one sack while playing at left guard.

Scouting Report: Strengths
- Effective in space and usually drops his hips to get leverage and sustain against shorter defenders.
- Consistently keeps his feet sliding while maintaining power when dealing with speed, often sending speed rushers flying past the pocket
- In the run game, Barrington explodes off the line of scrimmage and consistently gets out to the second level to do damage.
- He’s a fluid mover in pass protection, with great coordination between his upper and lower body. Barrington sets with a wide base, has the requisite core strength and plays with natural balance, capable of sitting back and handling power.
- Willing to attack and punches multiple times to finish the play. Quick to pick up edge blitz and shows no panic, easily adjusting angles and resetting his feet. Can recover and reset his anchor. Rarely late off the snap.
- Excellent quick-twitch movement off the snap in pass protection and as a run blocker.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
- Has good-not-great feet. Dealing with speed on the edge will likely be a problem, especially because he’s more comfortable moving forward as a run blocker than Barrington is retreating as a pass protector.
- Often simply tries to push pass rushers past the pocket. Barrington can also look a bit hesitant when it comes to recognizing and reacting to twists, stunts and blitzes up front.
- He’ll have trouble with elite quickness at the next level.
