Scouting Report: Strengths
  • Good athlete. Shows a natural feel for pass rushing. Very good lateral agility to shake pass blockers.
  • He’s a sure and violent wrap-up tackler with sideline-to-sideline range. He’s an excellent tackler in space, showing loose hips and the ability to break down and contain runners.
  • Barnes chases well in pursuit, and Barnes has the athleticism to play in space if asked to drop into coverage.
  • Barnes has value as an inside blitzer as well, showing the initial burst to shoot through gaps and disrupt the backfield.
  • He’s excellent changing direction, an agile mover who can win by countering inside and exploding with impressive burst when closing.
  • Has the fluid hips and long arms to turn and run with tight ends, as well as excellent range when dropping into zone coverage.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
  • Lacks pop and strength to anchor, though. Most effective when uncovered inside and chasing stretch plays to the sideline.
  • Plays upright. Ducks his head and fails to wrap up at times. Inconsistent in giving full effort to be the second man in on the play. Must learn to use hands to beat blocks.
  • His lateral agility and burst often put him in position to make big plays, but Barnes takes questionable routes to the ball and struggles to avoid blockers when in pursuit.

*Percentile Ranking in Player's Position Group (NFL Combine Historical Data): This percentile reflects how a player's specific statistics rank in comparison to historical performances at the NFL Combine, specifically within their position group. A higher percentile indicates a better performance. For instance, being in the 90th percentile for a particular stat means the player outperformed 90% of their peers in that category.

*Similarity Percentage: This percentage is calculated based on a comprehensive analysis of various factors, including height, weight, 40-yard dash times, on-field performance statistics, and overall player rating. The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
