Scouting Report: Strengths
- Takes much more pride in the run game, where Ali plays through the whistle with tremendous physicality.
- Has the football IQ to handle setting protections at the line of scrimmage, and he displays excellent instincts and awareness after the snap, effectively adjusting to twists and stunts
- Outstanding on reach blocks, showing good initial quickness and flexibility to seal the backside. He’s a heady player who is quick to recognize and react to twists and stunts up front, and he shows a good sense of timing on combo blocks.
- Shows a good feel for combo blocks, and he displays good quickness and flexibility when moving to the second level, capable of sealing the back side on reach blocks
- He’s a coordinated athlete who can win at the point of attack in the run game, and he can also move to consistently land blocks at the second level.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
- Has a bad habit of panicking on reach blocks, lunging, and grabbing rather than trusting his athleticism to get him in position, which could lead to frequent flags for holding.
- For all of his physical gifts, often gets terribly sloppy, especially in pass protection.
- Solid all-around prospect, but he’s not elite in any one area.
- Is a little too much of a waist bender, and Ali doesn’t play with ideal power and functional strength. Most concerning - he often gets caught dropping his head, a bad habit that will have to be corrected.
