Undersized for the position, Knapp was a day-one starter at left tackle for Notre Dame as a true freshman in 2024 despite a modest recruiting profile.He started again in 2025 and steadied after a rough opener at Miami, allowing no sacks from October on and shutting out pass rushers entirely in five of his final eight games.
For 2026 he moved inside to left guard, the interior spot his frame always projected to, and has settled in as a leader of the Notre Dame front.
