Cincinnati signed Tengesdahl out of Wayne High School in Huber Heights, Ohio, as a three-star recruit in its 2023 class. He spent his first two seasons in a reserve role, appearing in two games as a freshman in 2024 before winning the starting left guard job during fall camp ahead of the 2025 season.Tengesdahl started every game at left guard in 2025, logging 735 blocking snaps across 13 contests while allowing no sacks, two hits and nine hurries on 408 pass-blocking snaps. He went without a pressure allowed in a 56-snap road game at Oklahoma State and in a 61-snap matchup with Iowa State, anchoring a Bearcats front that surrendered just seven sacks, the second-fewest in the country.
The Associated Press named Tengesdahl a third-team All-American after the season. In December 2025 he announced he would return to Cincinnati for 2026 along with linemen Joe Cotton and Taran Tyo.
