Draft Profile: Bio
Darrell Luter Jr. attended Oak Grove High School and was Following high school, Luter Jr. opted to join South Alabama.In 2020 as a freshman Luter Jr. saw action in 11 games and played a total of 236 snaps at cornerback for the Jaguars. He recorded 18 tackles, 5 assists, while adding 3 stops. In coverage Luter Jr. notched up one pass breakup, no interceptions, and a QB rating when targetted of 108.6.
As a sophomore in 2021 he played in 10 games and logged 541 snaps for the Jaguars. He made 17 tackles, 6 assists, and had 9 stops. In coverage he totaled 10 pass breakups, 4 interceptions, and an elite QB rating when targetted of 3.9.

Scouting Report: Strengths
- Has the change-of-direction ability to mirror underneath but did solid work out of press and off coverage.
- His ball skills are very good. Luter tracks the ball well downfield and has the hands and coordination to come away with interceptions even when Luter isn’t targeted often.
- Explodes out of his backpedal and has the hands and coordination to force interceptions.
- Plays with the natural balance and ultra-quick feet to mirror underneath, and he’s tremendous at reading routes and reading quarterbacks.
- A coordinated athlete with good footwork and balance. A heady cover player with above-average · feel and anticipation in space.
- His length and leaping ability allow him to high-point the ball and make plays. Luter would have had bigger interception numbers in college had opposing quarterbacks not gone out of their way to avoid him.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
- Isn’t overly physical and might struggle to win early against bigger receivers in the NFL. He’s also underpowered in run support, not aggressive enough coming downhill, and too much of a grab-and-drag tackler.
- Will slip off tackles and needs to finish more consistently.
- Luter runs well, but Luter doesn’t have elite recovery speed.
