After high school, Gibbs joined Towson.In 2019 as a freshman Gibbs saw action in 5 games and played a total of 66 snaps for the Tigers. He recorded just one tackle, no assists, while adding 2 stops. As a pass rusher, he added 5 total pressures, which included 3 QB hurries, one QB hit, and one sack on the season.
As a sophomore for the Tigers in 2021 Gibbs played in 4 games and took part in 138 snaps for the Tigers. He recorded 10 tackles, 4 assists, while adding 6 stops. As a pass rusher, he chalked up 5 total pressures, and 4 QB hurries, one QB hit, and no sacks during the year.

Scouting Report: Strengths
- Gibbs has the quickness and flexibility to consistently dip and bend around the edge.
- His core flexibility and balance are excellent, and Gibbs has prototypical length.
- Made Bruce Feldman's Freak's List - ranked #37. He wrote "In the offseason, Gibbs vertical-jumped 37 inches, got 10 feet in the broad jump and had a terrific 10-yard split of 1.58 seconds. He also bench pressed 400 pounds."
- Flashes nimble feet to chase running backs and mobile quarterbacks to the sideline when lined up at end. Spins off blocks to get back into the play.
- Good lateral agility to elude. Plays on the balls of his feet and shows enough balance and flexibility to quickly turn and pursue laterally and downfield. Plenty of athletic talent worthy of developing.
- With his combination of length and flexibility, he can bend and turn the corner around the edge, and he has the closing speed to finish the job.
- His motor is excellent, and he’s quick to locate the ball and make plays against the run.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
- Gibbs struggles to shed blockers and doesn’t show ideal lateral movement skills. He also needs to make better use of his length and hands in the pass rush.
- Lean lower body - must improve core and leg strength. Suspect body flexibility and tight hips.
- Gibbs has to develop a counter move or two in the pass rush, and Gibbs needs to make better use of his hands.
