Scouting Report: Strengths
  • He’s tall-framed with long arms to match. With his powerful hands, straight-line speed, and fluidity in his hips, turning and chasing downfield shouldn’t be a problem.
  • He’s tall-framed with long arms to match. With his powerful hands, straight-line speed, and fluidity in his hips, turning and chasing downfield shouldn’t be a problem.
  • Flashes some physicality as a hitter.
  • Has excellent ball skills, tracking the ball effectively and instinctively taking the right route to break up the play. Garner has the strong hands and coordination to come down with interceptions.
  • Can track the ball downfield and gets his head around when playing in a trail position, and Garner shows excellent ball skills when breaking on a route. He’s a plus tackler in run support as well.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
  • Despite his size, he’s not an overly physical tackler. Garner might have to add some weight at the next level in order to become more physical.
  • Lacks elite speed to recover if beaten on double move. Ducks his head and swipes too often on open-field tackles.
  • Rght now he’s only capable of playing in trail position, and even then he’d likely be draw a lot of flags.
  • Garner runs well, but Garner doesn’t have elite recovery speed.
