As a sophomore in 2020 he played in just 2 games and a total of 139 snaps. He conceded just one QB hurry, no QB hits, and no sacks while playing at left tackle.

In 2021 as a junior Hayes saw action in 14 games and totaled 928 snaps. He gave up an unipressive 19 QB hurries, 5 QB hits, and 3 sacks while playing at left tackle.

In 2022 as a senior Hayes saw action in 11 games and played a total of 706 snaps for the Wolverines. He allowed 7 QB hurries, 3 QB hits, and no sacks while playing at left tackle.
Scouting Report: Strengths
  • Plays with appropriate wide base and intelligence, instincts and agility to seal the edge. Aggressive extending with power to punch and looks comfortable in space.
  • Has fluid body control with loose hips. Physical and tough with good effort in the run game. Plays with a finishing attitude with an aggressive, nasty temperament.
  • In the run game, Hayes plays with a mean streak and does a nice job generating a push at the initial point of attack. Hayes can get outside and does a decent job landing blocks in space.
  • Has good footwork and technique. Balanced and agile pass protection set with excellent hand placement.
  • Tall, long, athletic pass protector. Generally gets out of three-point stance with good knee bend and a wide base.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
  • Hayes often plays too high, allowing speed-to-power rushers to knock him back and off balance. He needs to get much better with his hand use.
  • Clearly more comfortable moving forward than sliding back as a protector.
  • Is a bit underpowered, often coming off the line of scrimmage too high and struggling to generate movement. Hayes might be no more than a wall-off, angle blocker.
  • He’s often too mechanical as a pass protector, oversetting and getting beat inside.

*Percentile Ranking in Player's Position Group (NFL Combine Historical Data): This percentile reflects how a player's specific statistics rank in comparison to historical performances at the NFL Combine, specifically within their position group. A higher percentile indicates a better performance. For instance, being in the 90th percentile for a particular stat means the player outperformed 90% of their peers in that category.

*Similarity Percentage: This percentage is calculated based on a comprehensive analysis of various factors, including height, weight, 40-yard dash times, on-field performance statistics, and overall player rating. The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
