Draft Profile: Bio
Three seasons at Michigan produced 69 receptions for 564 yards and four touchdowns plus 124 rushing yards and two more scores from Morgan, a West Bloomfield product who caught 61 passes for 1,015 yards and 13 touchdowns as a high school junior and signed as a 247Sports three-star with a four-star grade from Rivals. As a true freshman in 2023 he played all 15 games of Michigan's national championship season and caught 22 passes for 204 yards and two touchdowns. He added 27 receptions in 2024 while handling punt-return duties.
In 2025 Morgan appeared in 11 games with three starts and finished with 20 catches for 223 yards and a touchdown, five carries for 25 yards and 13 punt returns. His touchdown came on a four-catch, 69-yard day against Central Michigan, and he added five receptions against Wisconsin. After the season he entered the transfer portal and committed to UCLA for 2026 with one year of eligibility remaining.
Scouting Report: Strengths
- Quick, shifty slot with the agility to create underneath
- Experienced punt returner with 13 returns in 2025
- Contributed to a Michigan national title team as a freshman
- Adds run-after-catch juice, 190 yards after the catch on limited catches
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
- Drops are a real problem, eight on just 36 targets
- Tiny 5-foot-10, 174-pound frame limits him to a slot role
- Minimal production, 20 catches for 223 yards in 2025
- Nearly a pure slot with no outside value
- Never developed into a consistent target at Michigan
Scouting Report: Summary
Semaj Morgan is a shifty slot and return man whose value lives in the quick game and on special teams. A contributor to Michigan's national championship team as a freshman, he offers the agility to create underneath and turned limited touches into 190 yards after the catch in 2025, with 13 punt returns adding to the role. The change-of-direction quickness is real. The problems are hard to ignore. He dropped eight passes on just 36 targets, an alarming rate that undercuts the slot profile, his tiny frame limits him to inside work with no outside value, and he managed only 223 yards on the season. After three years at Michigan he never grew into a consistent target, so the receiver production has stalled.
He fits a spread offense that wants a quick slot and a returner, and a move to UCLA gives him a fresh backdrop. Overall, the return ability and quickness give him a special-teams path onto a roster, but Morgan projects as a developmental slot whose draft case rests almost entirely on the return value until the drops and the production improve. A team that prizes return men will look past the receiver limits, because the juice with the ball is real; the question is whether the hands ever let him be more than a specialist.

*Percentile Ranking in Player's Position Group (NFL Combine Historical Data): This percentile reflects how a player's specific statistics rank
in comparison to historical performances at the NFL Combine, specifically within their position group. A higher percentile indicates a better performance.
For instance, being in the 90th percentile for a particular stat means the player outperformed 90% of their peers in that category.
*Similarity Percentage: This percentage is calculated based on a comprehensive analysis of various factors, including height, weight, 40-yard dash times, on-field performance statistics, and overall player rating. The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
