Draft Profile: Bio
Tyrique Stevenson attended Miami Southridge Senior High School and was rated a 4-star prospect by 247 Sports with a scout's rating of 0.980. Following high school, Stevenson opted to join Georgia after being heavily recruited.

In 2019 as a freshman Stevenson saw action in 12 games and played a total of 223 snaps at cornerback for the Bulldogs. He recorded 12 tackles, 3 assists, while adding 8 stops. In coverage Stevenson notched up 3 pass breakups, no interceptions, and a rating when targetted of 66.4.

As a sophomore in 2020 he played in 10 games as a slot corner and logged 412 snaps for the Bulldogs. He made 27 tackles, 9 assists, and had 12 stops. In coverage he totaled 5 pass breakups, no interceptions, and QB rating when targetted of 106.8.

After season's end Stevenson transferred to Miami where he was given the opportunity to play a traditional corner role. As a junior for the Hurricanes in 2021 Stevenson played in 11 games and took part in 586 snaps for the Hurricanes. He chalked up 42 tackles, 6 assists, and added 19 stops. In the secondary Stevenson forced 4 pass breakups, one interception, and gave up a very good QB rating when targetted of 69.1.

In 2022 as a senior Stevenson saw action in 11 games while playing 554 snaps. He logged 24 tackles, 3 assists, and made 8 stops. In coverage Stevenson had 5 pass breakups, 2 interceptions, and surrendered a QB rating when targetted of 78.4.
Scouting Report: Strengths
  • Stevenson looks like a prototypical outside cover corner standing at 6-0, weighing in at 198lbs, and running a 4.45 forty
  • He’s long and strong enough in his core to steer receivers to the sideline without getting grabby with his hands when playing inside technique.
  • He’ll line up in press at times, where Stevenson has a quick and powerful punch. His ball skills are good, and he plays with an extremely confident and competitive demeanor.
  • He’s tall-framed with long arms to match. With his powerful hands, straight-line speed, and fluidity in his hips, turning and chasing downfield shouldn’t be a problem
  • Can track the ball downfield and gets his head around when playing in a trail position, and he shows excellent ball skills when breaking on a route. He’s a plus tackler in run support as well.
  • Very physical man/press corner - get's in the face of receivers and has the speed to run vertically with them
  • Has good arm length combined with excellent leaping ability enabling him to be an effective red zone defender
  • He’s a technician in press coverage, with a strong punch and the ability to reroute receivers.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
  • Susceptible to double moves, though that could be coached out of him. But the problem is that Stevenson doesn’t track the ball downfield, and he seems to lack the ball skills to break up plays.
  • Has elite long speed but he's not quite as twitchy as you would like and his short area quickness is only average - confirmed by his subpar three-cone at the combine
  • Is only an average tackler and doesn't consistently wrap up
  • Doesn't display enough awareness when playing zone
  • Often plays like he's unaware of what's going on around him beyond locking down his primary receiver
  • Has a tendency to get grabby, something that will have to be coached out of him.
  • Needs to develop a better understanding of route combinations and better overall vision.
  • Feet aren’t ideal, as he gets sloppy in his backpedal and can be sluggish when transitioning to close on the ball.

Scouting Report: Summary
Tyrique Stevenson is an excellent athlete with ideal size and speed for the position, he's aggressive and has all the tools to become a very good press corner at the next level, However currently he displays issues that can't be overlooked - he's a very inconsistent tackler, has little instinct to operate as a zone corner and lacks the quickness required to reroute effectively. Stevenson is a high ceiling low floor kind of player, who has the potential to become a quality pro man corner although he currently isn't quite there.

Expect Stevenson to be selected in the second or third round of the 2023 NFL draft.

*Percentile Ranking in Player's Position Group (NFL Combine Historical Data): This percentile reflects how a player's specific statistics rank in comparison to historical performances at the NFL Combine, specifically within their position group. A higher percentile indicates a better performance. For instance, being in the 90th percentile for a particular stat means the player outperformed 90% of their peers in that category.

*Similarity Percentage: This percentage is calculated based on a comprehensive analysis of various factors, including height, weight, 40-yard dash times, on-field performance statistics, and overall player rating. The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
