Draft Profile: Bio
Gabe VanSickle played left tackle in his senior season at Coopersville High School in Michigan and lettered in basketball and track. He flipped his commitment from Northwestern to Ohio State on Thanksgiving in 2023.VanSickle kept his redshirt in 2024 after a single appearance. In 2025 he logged 234 snaps across 13 appearances, and he made his debut in the starting lineup at right guard against Miami in the Cotton Bowl, a College Football Playoff quarterfinal, filling in for the injured Tegra Tshabola. He was also named Academic All-Big Ten.
VanSickle became a regular in 2026 after right tackle Phillip Daniels was hurt at Texas. He has taken snaps at guard and right tackle, and Ryan Day said the staff can move him around if needed. One sack and 12 pressures have come against him, and he has been penalized seven times.
Scouting Report: Strengths
- Exceptional athlete for a lineman, with a top-tier forty time
- Has lined up at guard and at right tackle for Ohio State
- First career start came in a College Football Playoff quarterfinal
- Held up over 85 snaps in the October road win at USC
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
- Flagged seven times across eight games this season
- Illinois got four pressures on him during the September game
- Drew two penalties in each of three different games this year
- Maryland got a sack and two more pressures on him
- Just a single season of starting experience in Columbus
Scouting Report: Summary
VanSickle is an athletic, versatile lineman who earned a spot in Ohio State's lineup this fall. He moves very well for a big man and has played both guard and right tackle. However, he has been penalized seven times this season, with two flags in three separate games, and Illinois produced four pressures against him. He did not become a regular until this season.
Overall, VanSickle is an athletic, flexible lineman whose technique must tighten. He projects as a priority free agent with upside if he stays another year.

*Percentile Ranking in Player's Position Group (NFL Combine Historical Data): This percentile reflects how a player's specific statistics rank
in comparison to historical performances at the NFL Combine, specifically within their position group. A higher percentile indicates a better performance.
For instance, being in the 90th percentile for a particular stat means the player outperformed 90% of their peers in that category.
*Similarity Percentage: This percentage is calculated based on a comprehensive analysis of various factors, including height, weight, 40-yard dash times, on-field performance statistics, and overall player rating. The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
