Draft Profile: Bio
Jordan Davis from Southwind High School was rated a 4-star recruit by ESPN and handed a 4-star grade by 247 Sports. After high school, Davis joined Mississippi State after being heavily recruited.

In 2020 as a freshman Davis saw action in 9 games and played a total of 244 snaps for the Bulldogs. He recorded 12 tackles, 3 assists, while adding 6 stops. In coverage Davis notched up no pass breakups, no interceptions, and an unimpressive QB rating when targetted of 143.8. As a pass rusher, he added 10 total pressures, which included 9 QB hurries, one QB hit, and no sacks on the season.

As a sophomore for the Bulldogs in 2022 Davis played in 10 games and took part in 227 snaps for the Bulldogs. He recorded 15 tackles, 6 assists, while adding 9 stops. As a pass rusher, he chalked up 13 total pressures, and 11 QB hurries, 2 QB hits, and no sacks during the year.

In 2023 as a junior Davis played in 6 games and contributed on 82 snaps. He recorded only 3 tackles, one assist while making 2 stops.
Scouting Report: Strengths
  • Davis has the speed to be effective in pursuit, and Davis shows enough fluid athleticism that he might be able to transition to outside linebacker and hold up in coverage.
  • His handwork is excellent. He is tough against the run, playing with a firm base when setting the edge and showing the upper-body strength to stack and shed blockers.
  • He’s quick to react and locate the ball, and he shows enough speed to succeed in backside pursuit. He plays with excellent balance and a strong, flexible core, rarely ending up on the ground.
  • Flashes nimble feet to chase running backs and mobile quarterbacks to the sideline when lined up at end. Spins off blocks to get back into the play.
  • He has decent enough flexibility to bend the edge, and he shows a good closing burst.
  • Davis displays good lateral movement skills, capable of working his way down the line with decent range when chasing in pursuit.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
  • Rarely the first player off the snap, even when lined up over the ball, but his length, effort and short-area quickness still pressures double teams and helps penetrate gaps.
  • Lacks overpowering strength and can stick to blocks. Lacks explosive speed to bend and flatten off the corner with stiff hips and ankles. Not flexible or fluid.
  • Davis has to develop a counter move or two in the pass rush, and Davis needs to make better use of his hands.

*Percentile Ranking in Player's Position Group (NFL Combine Historical Data): This percentile reflects how a player's specific statistics rank in comparison to historical performances at the NFL Combine, specifically within their position group. A higher percentile indicates a better performance. For instance, being in the 90th percentile for a particular stat means the player outperformed 90% of their peers in that category.

*Similarity Percentage: This percentage is calculated based on a comprehensive analysis of various factors, including height, weight, 40-yard dash times, on-field performance statistics, and overall player rating. The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
