Draft Profile: Bio
Alec Lindstrom was coached by his dad at Shepherd Hill Regional High School - he was handed a two-star recruit and the 33rd-ranked center in the country.As a 240 freshman, he joined Boston College and redshirted his first year. He only played sparingly the following year, but finally broke into the starting lineup at center in 2019. On 945 snaps he gave up just 1 sack and 5 total pressures and as a result earned third-team All-ACC honors,
In 2020 Lindstrom played on 706 snaps and allowed just a single sack and gave up 12 total pressures - he was handed All-ACC First Team honors and made the Rimington Award Watch List.
In his final year Lindstrom continued to put up outstanding numbers as a pass protector - once more he gave up just a single sack and surrendered 7 total pressures. He earned his second All-ACC selection as a result.
Scouting Report: Strengths
- High football iQ player with quick feet and outstanding lateral agility
- Has a surprisingly powerful base considering he is reletively undersized for the position
- Excellent in the screen game makes constant pancake blocks at the second level
- Plays with a nasty streak. Solid character and work ethic.
- Feisty, tough and plays with a competitive attitude.
- Ideal suited for a zone-blocking scheme
- Takes great angles and is rarely caught out with head fakes
- Very well developed technique with elite hands. He latches on won't let go
- Dips shoulder and moves his feet to get outside leverage when needed. Strong and low coming out of his stance, effective in short-yardage situations.
- Finishes and doesn't quit; competitor with a positive attitude and leadership traits that coaches admire.
- Very experienced center - has played his entire college career at an elite level. Outstanding overall pass protector
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
- Can be dominated by bigger stronger nose tackles
- Attacks when necessary, though he won't consistently dominate and can lose balance overextending
- Limited speed and not a great athlete
- Not physically imposing and has average overall strength. Upper body gets over his feet too often and he easily loses his balance.
- Foot speed and quickness are very good, but not elite
- Loses leverage battles and plays with high pad level. Can be late off the snap.
- Limits ability to mirror by leaning forward with his upper body and neglecting his lower body. Not strong enough and remains rough around the edges.
- Has only average measurable with limited arm length and no overpowering qualities
Scouting Report: Summary
We regard Lindstrom as a good pro prospect - he has an overall excellent technique and is an elite pass protector and a good run blocker. He however is a little undersized and can be physically dominated by bigger defenders. He has a high floor and a moderate ceiling due to his average strength and high football IQ.Linstrom is probably the fourth-best center in a weak draft class - for that reason we expect him to hear his name called in the fourth or fifth round of the 2022 NFL Draft.
