Draft Profile: Bio
Travis Dye from Norco High School was rated a 3-star recruit by ESPN and handed a 3-star grade by 247 Sports. Following high school, Dye joined Oregon.

In 2018 as a freshman Dye saw action in 13 games for the Ducks as he ran for 734 yards on 140 attempts for an excellent 5.2 yards per carry, with 4 TDs, with 2 fumbles. As a receiver he made just 12 receptions for 69 yards.

As a sophomore in 2019 he played 14 games. and rushed for 655 yards on 106 carries for an outstanding 6.2 ypc, with no TDs, with 2 fumbles. In the passing game he pulled in 16 receptions for 159 yards.

In 2020 as a junior Dye saw action in 7 games for the Ducks. He ran for 443 yards on 64 attempts for an outstanding 6.9 ypc, with one TD, with 2 fumbles. As a receiver he made only 9 receptions for 239 yards.

As a senior in 2021 he played in 14 games and ran for an elite 1263 yards on 210 carries for an impressive average of 6.0 ypc, with 16 TDs, with 3 fumbles. In the passing game he had 47 receptions for an elite 398 yards.

After season's end Dye transferred to USC where as a fifth year senior in 2022 he played 10 games and ran for 889 yards on 146 carries for an elite average of 6.1 ypc, with 9 TDs, with one fumble. In the passing game he had 21 receptions for 202 yards.
Scouting Report: Strengths
  • Dye has a naturally low center of gravity and knows how to use it to his advantage, staying low and playing peek-a-boo behind linemen and darting forward once Dye finds a crease.
  • He is a natural playmaker, at his best with the ball in his hands.
  • Shows a surprising burst to beat linebackers to the edge. Can plant his foot in the ground and explode, showing better straight-line speed than expected.
  • He shows decent burst and straight-line speed to turn in big plays.
  • He’s not the kind of guy who will define an offense as a runner but can be a star on the ground running behind a zone scheme.
  • Quick feet with good vision to pick through defenses. Dye has solid hands and body control and is a reliable receiver.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
  • He’s shaky in pass protection, capable of making the correct reads but too reliant on cut blocks. When Dye does stay on his feet, he too often ducks his head and lunges.
  • Dye isn’t going to overwhelm opposing defensive backs with speed and athleticism.
  • He’s elusive with the ball in his hands, but he won’t break a lot of tackles. Because getting separation is going to be an issue, he’s likely going to need to line up off the line of scrimmage.

*Percentile Ranking in Player's Position Group (NFL Combine Historical Data): This percentile reflects how a player's specific statistics rank in comparison to historical performances at the NFL Combine, specifically within their position group. A higher percentile indicates a better performance. For instance, being in the 90th percentile for a particular stat means the player outperformed 90% of their peers in that category.

*Similarity Percentage: This percentage is calculated based on a comprehensive analysis of various factors, including height, weight, 40-yard dash times, on-field performance statistics, and overall player rating. The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
