Draft Profile: Bio
After high school Jaquan Brisker was unable to take advantage of any potential scholarship offer due to academic issues, however, he was given chance to showcase his skills at Lackawanna Community College. He impressed during his two years and received Northeast Football Conference Defensive Player of the Year honors in 2018 and as a result, was named one of the best JUCO prospects in 2019.

He opted to join Penn State where he instantly made an impact and as a freshman played on 470 defensive snaps while recording a QB rating of only 51 when being targetted. The following year he played 488 snaps and added 48 tackles and had a QB rating of 60 when targetted. This led to Brisker being included on the preseason watch list for the Bednarik Award - which is annually given to college football’s best defensive player.

This past season as a junior, Brisker has recorded 33 tackles, a defensive QB rating of 46.8, a fumble recovery, and two interceptions, including the game-sealing interception in Penn State’s week one win over Wisconsin. Brisker is one of the semifinalists for the Jim Thorpe Award Jim - which is handed out to the nation’s top defensive back.
Scouting Report: Strengths
  • Brisker has excellent length and is on CFB's Freaks list courtesy of Bruce Feldman—he’s been credited with a 35’5” triple jump and a 10’7” standing broad jump
  • Great size/height/speed combination for the position. Who can quite happily play both as free and strong safety
  • Is a natural leader of the Lion's defense - behaves like a coach on the field
  • A fantastic in zone coverage - blankets TE's and backs and can run with most receivers too. Not quite as accomplished in man coverage but still is good enough
  • Does a nice job using his eyes to read and react quickly. Smart, disciplined defender who makes plays on the ball and contesting throws.
  • Physical hitter and aggressive tackler with natural strength and good timing and able to blow through blockers and get to the back
  • Flashes intimidating attitude and will crush tiptoeing receivers across the middle.
  • Does a very good job of reading the eyes of the quarterback and reacting with good field awareness and ball skills.
  • Shows good awareness, following the eyes of the quarterback and breaking on the ball with excellent quickness and aggression.
  • Has good body control and balance to redirect and break down in the open field.
  • Has a solid frame with a strong lower body and much-improved bulk. Fluid and rangy with the coordination and loose hips to quickly change directions.
  • Excellent run defender and a solid tackler who nearly always wraps up
  • Made Bruce Feldman's Freaks list -- "The 6-1, 203-pounder has clocked a head-spinning 4.07 shuttle. His vertical is 35 inches, and he’s also very strong for his size, benching 360 and cleaning 315."
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
  • Doesn't always diagnoze the play quick enough and is sometimes late to the play
  • To often bites on QB play action action fakes - and doesn't have the super elite speed to make up for it
  • Takes too many bad angles to the ball and sometimes overshoots
  • Allows to big a cushion on some pass routes - will need to try and tighten this up to be considered elite
Scouting Report: Summary
Jaquan Brisker is a great athlete with an elite combination of speed, size, tackling, and natural coverage ability to be a pro-bowl level safety in the NFL. While we have listed four negatives - it was quite a struggle as he has few flaws in his game. He could quite easily become the best defensive back this year.
While most expect Kyle Hamilton to be the best safety prospect in this year's class, we after further evaluation expect Brisket will likely become a more complete pro - and as a result should be taken high in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft.

*Percentile Ranking in Player's Position Group (NFL Combine Historical Data): This percentile reflects how a player's specific statistics rank in comparison to historical performances at the NFL Combine, specifically within their position group. A higher percentile indicates a better performance. For instance, being in the 90th percentile for a particular stat means the player outperformed 90% of their peers in that category.

*Similarity Percentage: This percentage is calculated based on a comprehensive analysis of various factors, including height, weight, 40-yard dash times, on-field performance statistics, and overall player rating. The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
