Draft Profile: Bio
Jerrion Ealy was a high school star who earned MVP honors at the 2019 Under Armour All-American Game as a top-100 recruit by all major recruiting services and a five-star recruit from all three major scouting services. Was also drafted in the 31st round of the 2019 MLB Draft by the Arizona Diamondbacks.
He joined Ole Miss and started as a freshman running for 722 yds for a team-high 6.9 yds avg - resulting in being named on the 'True Freshman All-American team' and an honorable mention on the Freshman All-American team by Pro Football Focus.
In 2020 he appeared in nine games notching up 745 yds, and received All-American third team (Pro Football Focus) honors and All-SEC second-team running back (Pro Football Focus) honors.
2021 has been a productive one for Ealy where he (as per Nov 10) has logged a 6.1 average and 4 TDs and looks to be the best scatback in the 2022 NFL Draft.
Scouting Report: Strengths
  • Elusive, pogo stick-quick back with excellent initial burst and very good long speed. Gets to top speed quickly. Turns the corner and accelerates smoothly with vision to cut or stop-and-start. Tough enough to attack the hole inside and uses electric lateral agility to avoid. Breakaway threat has improved as a receiver
  • Natural athlete - played baseball to high level
  • Possesses very quick feet to accelerate through the hole - set records on the track at high school. Good lateral agility and balance to avoid defenders in tight quarters and can make would-be tacklers look silly in the open field. Surprisingly powerful for his short stature due to a strong lower body, good forward lean and determined running.
  • Creative with good vision and patience, quick feet and smooth footwork to easily change direction and make sharp cuts to elude defenders in space. Very good lateral agility; difficult to square-up in tight areas with his smallish frame.
  • .Wasn't used as a receiver very often but when he was looked very good and never had a dropped pass
  • A balanced runner with good combination of wiggle and lower body strength. Possesses above average initial burst with natural explosion and start-and- stop ability to make guys miss - can turn on the jets in a flash.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
  • Size will be a detriment between the tackles at the next level. Lacks the strength to push the pile or break off NFL linebacker tackles inside. Can be brought down or knocked back by strong arm tackles. Can be steamrolled by NFL defensive ends or leapt in a single bound by most pass rushers if he attempts to chip block.
  • Has a lean frame and lacks ideal bulk or muscle for the position. Doesn't have great strength, lacking a power element to his game to break many tackles.
  • Offers little in pass protection and poor technique cut blocking, fails to do more than slow down blitzers by laying down in front of them.
  • Has had some medical issues - Ealy suffered a concussion in 2019 and had shoulder surgery
  • Does not always read blocks behind pulling guards. May not be big enough to move piles at the next level and has a tendency to bury his head too soon.
Scouting Report: Summary
Ealy is a very small back (5' 8" 190lbs) who plays with great speed and awareness - with classic change of direction skills. Probably too small to be an every-down back in the NFL which will limit his draft appeal. Still, he could carve a nice niche in the right system but is unlikely to be selected any higher than the third round.

*Percentile Ranking in Player's Position Group (NFL Combine Historical Data): This percentile reflects how a player's specific statistics rank in comparison to historical performances at the NFL Combine, specifically within their position group. A higher percentile indicates a better performance. For instance, being in the 90th percentile for a particular stat means the player outperformed 90% of their peers in that category.

*Similarity Percentage: This percentage is calculated based on a comprehensive analysis of various factors, including height, weight, 40-yard dash times, on-field performance statistics, and overall player rating. The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
