Draft Profile: Bio
Kemari Averett from Grady High School was rated a 3-star recruit by ESPN and handed a 3-star grade by 247 Sports. After high school, Averett opted to join Louisville. In 2018 as a freshman Averett saw action in 7 games for the Cardinals as he made 8 receptions for only 65 yards for an average of 8.1 yards per reception, with 2 TDs, and QB rating when targeted of 74.2.
After season's end Averett transferred to Bethune-Cookman where as a sophomore in 2021 he played in 11 games and had 51 catches for 879 yards for an average of 17.2 yards per catch, with 10 TDs, and QB rating when targeted of 96.5.
As a junior in 2022 he played 11 games and hauled in 41 catches for 454 yards for an average of 11.1 yards per catch, with 7 TDs, and QB rating when targeted of 78.8. As a pass blocker he gave up one pressure and one sack.
Scouting Report: Strengths
- His prototypical size, length and reliable hands push him into the developmental prospect category
- Soft hands. Flashes good to very good tracking and overall body control to make catches outside of his frame.
- Averett is a highly competitive player and quickly gets to the perimeter, blocking well in space and at the second level.
- A fluid mover capable of creating some separation over the middle of the field, Averett has the long arms and soft hands to provide a sizable catch radius.
- Knee-bend and technique are good and he shows decent power when his hands hit the target.
- Soft, reliable hands center the big target for quarterbacks. Shields the defense and will let the ball into his pads to protect it when about to absorb a big hit over the middle.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
- Only average lateral agility to elude and might not be fast enough to be a consistent threat down the seam against NFL competition.
- Doesn’t bring much suddenness or explosion as a mover, and he’ll often go down on first contact. Averett lacks physicality and is too often unable to come down with contested catches Averett should get his hands on.
- He also had problems with drops when coming back to the action. Averett has some issues against press coverage, sometimes spending too much time hand fighting at the line of scrimmage.

*Similarity Percentage: This percentage is calculated based on a comprehensive analysis of various factors, including height, weight, 40-yard dash times, on-field performance statistics, and overall player rating. The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
